What type of vehicle can I expect?
For the scheduled tours you can expect a Mercedes Benz Sprinter or a Ford Transit. The cars are well equipped, comfortable and meet the highest safety standards with appropriate tyres for all seasons. See more here
I am travelling with a child, are the tours suitable for children as well?
Most of the tours are suitable for children as well but bear in mind that some of them have long driving distances. IG Tours can provide a children seat if requested in advance.
How should I dress for the tours?
The weather in Iceland can be rather unpredictable and rapid changes are considered normal. We recommend bringin warm waterproof clothes and good shoes.
Is it guaranteed that I have access to a tripod on the Northern Lights Tour?
The tripods are for everyone on the bus to use, but it can not be guaranteed that you will have access to it the whole evening(3-5 tripods for passengers to share).
I forgot something on the bus, how can I get it back?
If you forgot something on the bus contact our office, firstname.lastname@example.org and let us know what tour you were on, the date and what item is missing. If you are still in Reykjavik we will find a way to get it back to you but if you have already left Iceland we will ship it by mail.
I want to use the 10 in 5 tour to get to Keflavík Airport for my flight, is it guaranteed that I will be there in time?
It depends on when your flight is, the scheduled tour starts at 10 and the bus should be in Keflavík Airport about 2:45. If the flight is at another time we recommend booking a private 10 in 5, that gets you to the airport in time for your flight.
FAQ about Booking our day tours and services
I want to change my travel dates, is that possible?
If you notify us in good advance we will do our very best to change your tour dates. The best way is to send us an e-mail to email@example.com and check the availability.
What is the best way to book a tour for a group?
Our online booking system allows you to book up to 18 passengers at a time given that the seats are all available. If you are booking for a group and the online booking system does not give you the availability you can send us an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org and we will finish the booking for you.
I still haven't received a confirmation email about my booking. What is wrong?
The confirmation should arrive via e-mail within 24 hours from the booking. If you have not received a confirmation at that time please send us an e-mail to email@example.com and we will sort it out.
I am having difficulties booking a tour online.
Problems with our online booking system are rare but happen. Try again in a few minutes and if it does not work you can reach us by telephone +354 556 5566 or via e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org
Do I need to bring a printout of my ticket?
If you booked directly through our website you do not need to bring a printout. For bookings made through a sales office or another agent than www.igtours.is please bring a confirmation printout of your ticket.
FAQ about our Pickup in Reykjavik
How does the pick up work?
On your ticket you should see at what time the pick up starts. For most of our scheduled tours the pick up starts at 08:30 in the morning and the tour departs at 09:00. Please be ready at 08:30 at the selected pick up location and the driver should be with you between then and 09:00. For tours with other departure times the pick up starts 30 minutes before departure unless instruced otherwise.
What if my hotel/guesthouse is not in Reykjavik City?
When booking the tour online you get a drop down list with the hotels and guesthouses that we pick up from. If your hotel/guesthouse is not on the list please let us know and we will add it to the list and change your pick up location manually. If your hotel is located outside of Reykjavik it is best to contact our office to check if it is possible to pick you up from there. If it is not possible we will do our best to assist you to find an acceptable solution.
FAQ about our services for Cruise Ship passengers
When can we expect to be picked up from our ship?
If the ship is arriving in the morning of your tour we will be waiting at the port. The tour departs 30-40 minutes after the ships arrival. If the ship is in port overnight before your tour we will be at the port at 08:30 and leave at 09:00. You will be notified in e-mail if other times apply to your tour.
Is it guaranteed that we will not miss the ship?
Iceland Guided Tours operators and guides are very experienced when it comes to showing Cruise Ship passengers our country. We always tailor make the tour so you are securely on board before the ships departure.
There are a lot of tour operators in the port, how do I find you?
Iceland Guided Tours will have multiple people with signs and well labelled vehicles. It is fairly easy to find us in the crowd. Our guides are wearing orange colored jackets with our logo on as well.
I am a senior, are your tours suitable for me?
Our scheduled tours are suitable for everyone. None of them require long distance walking or difficult terrain. The mini-buses are easy to step on & off with hand rails and comfortable seats.
My cruise ship is docking in Akureyri and Isafjordur as well, do you offer tours there?
Iceland Guided Tours have had a good relationship with our partner FAB travel – Free as a bird. FAB travel offers cruise ship tours both in Akureyri & Isafjordur wich you can find here on our webpage.
Do you offer private tours?
If you are looking for a more personal tour and want to travel on your own pace we do offer tailor made private tours. Send us an inquiry for prices and details. We do also offer private tours for groups that are travelling together.
